AVR Generators

Many Honda generators feature an Automatic Voltage Regulator, or AVR, to accurately control voltage.

What are the benefits of an AVR?

An AVR keeps the output voltage more constant, regardless of the load. The generator's power is more stable, with no surges or brown-outs.

The "UPS test" is a good way to illustrate how clean, or stable, your power supply is. An Uninterruptible Power Supply, or UPS, device automatically detects when the power is going off and will switch power supply to a battery.

If the generator supplies unstable power, the UPS device will not accept it as a power source. Brushless generators don't always pass the UPS test because of the inconsistent power that they create. They can't control the power quality like an AVR generator.

All of Honda's AVR generators supply power that is clean and steady enough to pass the UPS test.

How does an AVR work?

The AVR constantly senses the output voltage and adjusts the applied voltage to the brushes. This ensures a consistent flow of power, regardless of the load.

The AVR units on Honda generators are made of high quality components to ensure exceptional performance.
